The owner of the product came to me with the idea to create a platform where you could have coupons for restaurants. The catch was that it also needed to come with the ability to book a table. The focus centered around creating an experience for the person that searches for venues while keeping everything smooth and accessible.

Each step was a challenge. The stepping stone was convincing the venue owners of the platform’s value and getting them to sign up. Accepting discounts for their customers and training their staff were also tricky at first.

The solution for tackling the booking a table with a coupon combined issue came from the good old “divide and conquer” technique: we decided to divide the city into circle areas that have different discounts based on the locations they are in. Based on the restaurant selected, the user would know the discount in advance, and all that was left to do was to put in the details for the reservation.
